The Power of Digital Twin & VR Technologies

What is a Digital Twin?

A Digital Twin is a digital representation of a physical object, room, or worksite. It is updated from real-time data and uses simulations, machine learning and reasoning to help decision making. Its fully immersive 3D worlds, photorealist imagery and true-to-form asset replicas help it come to life.

How is a Digital Twin developed?

We establish a clear project design brief with you, an industry SME and 3t Transform’s VR specialist. Then together, we design the learning, event and outcomes based on your learning objectives. Using your CAD drawings or other provision we bring to life a Virtual Reality/Digital Twin replica or generic digital asset.

We then create the building blocks of a VR/digital twin programme with consultations throughout the development. Your training objectives are the glue that holds everything together to create a full learning package.

Finally, 3t Transform will user test the programme to ensure quality assurance. We can also offer ongoing maintenance and additional training scenarios as your learning needs grow.

Why use Virtual Reality as a learning tool?

Virtual reality simulates physical interactions which help muscle memory, it is also proven to improve competency and trusted technology for training and is already used in many industries.

Different training situations/industries

When it comes to using virtual reality as a training tool it can be implemented in almost any industry. These are just a small selection of industries in which VR can be employed:

Energy sector

  • Optimising the operation and maintenance of systems and processes.

Automotive industry

  • Replicate the car’s exterior and interiors and driving experience.

Healthcare profession

  • Surgery training and the hazard prevention of procedures without the demand for patients or access to hospital rooms or physical equipment.

Property development

  • The construction process can be planned, visualised, and optimised.

Crisis or disaster management

  • Improve emergency response times or climate change monitoring.

Different training situations that Virtual Reality can be used in:

You can use VR in situations when the training you are required to do is too expensive to use e.g., the hardware, or if you are required to train in dangerous situations these can then be simulated to combat safety requirements. In addition, virtual reality training can help safety competency scenarios, simulate hazardous situations, and immerse yourself in the impact and it provides a safe space to ‘try out’ tasks and role-play.

How can VR help with training and assessment?

3t Transform provides top of the range training which includes:

  • A user walkthrough and a series of tasks to complete
  • An on-screen list of objectives to complete
  • Repetitive behaviour which improves competency
  • Progress tracker

Assessment package:

  • Provides evidence for qualifications
  • Internal testing procedures
  • Create bespoke reports
  • Provide immediate feedback to the user
