Micro-learning at the forefront of training

With the challenge of workforce training being unengaging and monotonous, PeopleUnboxed formed a partnership with 3t Transform, which has changed workplace learning for the better.

Overview

Corporate learning specialist, PeopleUnboxed, is a London-based company dedicated to helping organisations, both large and small, become more effective through workforce learning.

PeopleUnboxed were commissioned by holiday and travel giant, TUI, to create a learning tool which would help its staff retain critical travel destination knowledge, so decided to team up with us as technology partner to develop a customised app that would transform their learning experience.

The approach

We created ‘MemoryBox’ for PeopleUnboxed. MemoryBox is a micro-learning app, which can be accessed via mobile phone, tablet, laptop or desktop. The app contains a simple two-minute, quiz-based ‘work-out’ which tests TUI staff on their knowledge of different travel and holiday destinations such as places to visit, leisure activities, weather etc.

Using artificial intelligence, lively graphics and the addictive and competitive qualities of gaming, MemoryBox embeds knowledge through bite-sized, repetitive learning.

The results

Within just eight weeks, TUI saw a massive engagement increase with 84% of staff using the app regularly. In this period, it was accessed more than 21,000 times averaging out at around 1.7 workouts per person per day with mobile phone usage proving the most popular. Most importantly, knowledge retention of the subjects learned increased by 30% in active users.

We have created an app that makes a genuine impact on knowledge retention, adapts to the learner, fits the toughest of modern learner needs and one that puts the fun back into work-based training.

"Working with 3t Transform has been a breath of fresh air; they are responsive and agile and we have formed a true partnership, where together we have created a learning app with a real difference. We are very excited by the success TUI have seen from this and the possibilities this opens up for the future of workplace learning."
