BP approached us to develop a bespoke training programme for the production crew of the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project.
Aims
To develop a bespoke and detailed training programme using modern technology for onboarding new recruits before starting their role on site. To develop job-specific content to best equip personnel and maximise operational readiness.
The Solution
Utilising Navisworks CAD designs of assets, imported into our VR engine, we created a true-to-scale digital twin of a ‘yet-to-be-built’ five hectre floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) asset. Featuring above-sea and subsea structures, the twin covered a massive 1000 square miles of real-world space, incorporating VR and AR scenarios, and linking to mobile apps.
This provided a perfect immersive training platform for the safety-critical operating procedures training to ensure full compliance in advance of the project start. The project took 18months to deliver and has more than surpassed initial expectations. Critical training and competency has been fast-tracked by one year and will significantly reduce offshore incidents. The value of the VR & digital twin as a digital asset is proven time and time again – not only as a training tool but as a reference point for engineers, mechanics and wider teams.
