Working with bp to create a programme of VR and digital twin based induction training for GTA project

bp approached us to develop a bespoke training programme for the production crew of the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project.

bp’s mission was to create an “immersion in GTA” which enabled the crew to fully familiarise themselves with the FPSO operating systems, onshore Hub and QU – for an asset that had not yet been constructed.

The challenge was to incorporate different learning technologies to offer a blueprint blended training programme to be used for all future recruits of the project.

The approach

3t Transform developed a bespoke 4 week residential blended training programme to be delivered in Aberdeen to the entire crew over an 18 month period.

At the heart of the programme is a fully immersive VR Digital Twin of the FPSO, Hub, QU and subsea infrastructure.

VR scenarios, flyovers and competence assessments were embedded into the Digital Twin to familiarise crew with the infrastructure and key operating equipment. This supplemented traditional training methods.

“Following an extensive tender process, we are delighted to award our new training contract to AIS Survivex and 3t Energy Group. 3t Energy Group demonstrated a creative and innovative approach to the project requirements and we are excited about working with them on this and future projects.”
